Blog Tour: Sunset Reads: Damian & Layla by @DCTriana1 with an #interview and a #giveaway

Contemporary Romance/Suspense
Date Published: 12/26/2016

One year.
It’s been one year since Agent Damian Trent left for Washington without a word.
One year since he’s seen her beautiful face.
One year since he’s heard his name on her lips.
He's been recently called back to New York City on assignment, to catch a criminal who’s trying to infiltrate Sunset Reads. The last thing he expects is to work side by side with the woman he turned his back on.
Having her close is an unwanted distraction that he’s more than willing to ignore, if only she wasn’t so damn tempting.
Everything seems under control, until a night of feverish passion has him abandoning all thoughts of reason. Now, he will do everything in his power to get her back, and even more so to protect her.

Layla Reece wants nothing to do with the man who left her a year ago.
The man who took her heart with him, leaving her broken.
After a year of trying to forget Damian Trent, she is finally ready to move on.
But trying to forget him becomes a tedious task when he suddenly reappears in her life.
Although she fights to stay away, his magnetism is too strong and she finds herself giving into the deep timbre of his voice, and the strength and safety of his arms.
Staying away from Damian turns out to be futile, especially when his kisses consume her and his heart shatters the walls she spent so much time building.
Finding herself in danger, she now has to turn to the only man she trusts to keep her safe, but can she trust him enough to give him her heart once again?

Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

That sometimes there’s more to why a person leaves you and giving them a second chance may be the fresh start you both need.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

The technical aspect, correcting grammar, etc. I can write a story easily, but the editing process is the challenging part for me.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I’ve written three in total. My favorite is Damian & Layla’s story. I had a lot of fun writing an FBI agent, and the first time writing action scenes.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
Henry Cavill- that was easy. He’s handsome, charming, speaks several languages and has a hot baritone British accent, the package also includes the body of an Adonis. Need I say more. Of course Damian doesn’t have a British accent, but we can work Henry around that.

When did you begin writing?

I truly began writing at the age of fourteen. I found an outlet for bullying by creating my own worlds.

How long did it take to complete your first book?
It took me two months to write, one month to edit.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
I had several favorite authors from Susan Elizabeth Phillips to Laurell K. Hamilton. They brought readers such thrilling stories, and I had so many of my own that it would have been a shame not to share them.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

I love to write the scenes that are just about the couple. Those intense moments that lead up to bed. The teasing, the sexual tension, foreplay is what I live for.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.
Passionate, romantic, thrilling, ardent

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

I am currently working on Sebastian & Daisy’s story. He’s the one with the rich baritone English accent. I’m excited about them, they’re turning out to be my favorite couple. Especially Daisy, she’s hurt in more ways than one and her character hides so much making her unsure of a man like Sebastian, but the charming playboy is determined to sweep her off her feet.

Virtual Book Tour: Fixing Sydney by @dianezparkki #review and #giveaway

Young Adult Romantic Suspense
Date Published:  August 1 2016

Sydney Sommer’s world fell apart after senior prom. Since then, her life had become a constant loop of unfortunate scenarios that kept her in constant fear of what might be lurking around the next corner. Her trust in others was at a standstill. Even those who were closest to her were held at a distance.
After serving active duty overseas, Jaxon Triggs moved away from his hometown, hoping the change in scenery would help him build a new future for himself. What he wasn’t expecting was to fall for a girl who was broken.
From the first moment Jaxon laid eyes on Sydney, he was curious. He became determined to do everything he could to break through the armor Sydney held around her so securely. His instinct to protect her and keep her safe kicked in as the dangers she encountered became more personal.
With dread always looming close by and secrets discovered, would Sydney be able to handle the new changes in her life yet heal at the same time?

Review

You will definitely want to have plenty of allotted reading time before starting this one. It was hard to put down. I was so engrossed in the story that I put off many of my important things to do. Diane Zparkki does a great job of creating a Romantic Suspense that keeps the reader on the edge of their seat. I was anticipating each thing, yet surprised the whole way through.

The Romantic element helps lighten the mood. I think the Romance was believable and unfolded smoothly which is always important. I don't like when Romances seem forced, this one seemed natural.

I loved that this is aimed towards Young Adult readers, but can be enjoyed by all fans of Romantic Suspense.

Diane Zparkki——lives in the greater Toronto area. She is a working mom, and with her husband, she has raised three great kids. She is a thrill seeker who usually drags her family along with her.
She was never a big reader or writer in her youth—Coles Notes were her best friend through college. Her enthusiasm for reading came later in life when she joined a book club. She loved those books, but she wanted raw, simple, and happily ever after with a bit of get down and dirty. That was when her love for bad boys on a Harley was set in motion.
After reading so many books, her mind started to create her first story, and she needed to get it out.
Fixing Sydney of the Branson’s Kind of Love trilogy is her first book, and she hopes you enjoy it as much as she has enjoyed having these characters running around in her head.

A brief synopsis of the book: "Amina prepares for college on what is expected to be an exciting first day of higher learning. What follows is a stormy and passionate romance detailing the lives of both Raja Gupta and Amina Mitra as they both attempt to survive from one of the worst genocides of historical record—a genocide that ultimately leads to the birth of the poor and crippled nation known today as Bangladesh. Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
I want readers to understand that mental and emotional pain is very real, but it can be overcome. Pain is something that we all have to deal with at some point in our lives, and the way that we process it will vary greatly from person to person. With our lives being so busy it is easy for us to get caught up in our own little world but I hope that as people read the novel and connect with the characters, they also connect with the people around them, and think about what it means to be sympathetic and empathetic.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Editing is usually the most challenging part of my writing. I usually write about things that are very difficult to discuss openly with most people, but I have to make sure that I am not holding back in my writing. It is easy for me to read something I have written and want to take it back for fear of it being “too much”, but that wouldn’t be authentic. When I am editing I have to make sure that I am being honest, and not editing out the truth that makes the story a good story.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I have only written “27 Revelations” but I am currently working on my second novel and a novella, but I feel that my second novel may be my favorite because for me it is the most personal.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
Ha ha! I honestly couldn’t tell you. I honestly don’t believe that there is an actress that is known that could effectively play Mara and successfully embody all of her complexities.

When did you begin writing?
I have always loved writing since I was a child but I didn’t seriously start writing until 2012.

How long did it take to complete your first book?
I got the idea for “27 Revelations” in 2013. However I didn’t actually start outlining and writing until 2014, and I finished the first draft in July of 2015. The fourth and final draft was completed in spring of 2016, then it was sent off for professional editing in the fall of 2016. So it has been at least three years from start to publication.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
I admire a lot of writers but there isn’t one who inspired me to write. I think that writing has just always been something that I have loved since I was a kids so it comes naturally.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Character creation. That is my favorite part. There is nothing more satisfying than writing and having a character take off in its own direction. I believe that is how you know you’ve done a good job with character development. When you don’t have to think so hard about what your character will do next because their personality and past actions drive the story forward naturally.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.
Honest, insightful, intimate, and revealing.

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?
I am currently working on my second full length novel “On Walnut and Kirkwood” (working title), and a novella, “Sugar Lane”. The novel will focus on two college sweethearts who have recently separated after nine years of marriage as they navigate their new relationship status after unfortunate circumstances force them to interact in the town of their alma mater. Then “Sugar Lane” will focus on a quiet residential neighborhood outside Memphis, TN where life isn’t as sweet as people want it to be as relationships between neighbors become strained due to jealousy and other personal indiscretions. I hope to release the novel at the end of 2017 or early 2018. The novella I hope to release shortly afterwards.

Harlow Hayes was born and raised in Indianapolis, Indiana. She has always had a passion for writing and storytelling in its many forms, and when she’s not immersed in her writing, she enjoys reading both fiction and non-fiction, watching movies, and listening to music. She currently lives in Chattanooga, TN. 27 Revelations is her first novel.

Will Mallory find the right balance between her crazy rehearsal schedule and helping Asher?

Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

I am a sucker for underdog stories, and each book in the series has an element of that theme. The main message I want my readers to grasp is – Never doubt yourself, because you will be surprised at just how much you can achieve.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

The most challenging thing I face is shutting up the critic living inside my brain. I’d never let anybody speak to me that way in real life, but yet here I am giving myself not-so-productive criticism—I am really hard on myself.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

Counting the rewrite for my first novel, Green, I have written 18 books altogether—this does not include my 6 or so unfinished manuscripts :)
My favorite book has to be Palace Hills. It was the book that got me my first book deal and it is a tearjerker like no other!

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

For Breaking Promises, I’d say B-boy Cloud (Daniel Campos) would make an awesome Mitch Adachi. You might remember him from Step Up 3.

When did you begin writing?

I began writing my first stories at age eight.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

It took me about 2 months of working non-stop to get the first draft and revisions complete.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

This question is so hard! I’ll have to say every single author who I’ve read and/or met has inspired me in some way or another.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

I’d have to say first revisions. I love reading the story as a whole and knit picking everything I’d love to change.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Dancing in da house! (haha)

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

I am currently writing a YA novel from a male’s POV. It’s funny because my first book ever was YA, but after years of writing Contemporary Romance and New Adult, it’s a bit hard not to cuss or write such explicit love scenes anymore ;)
