Is there a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

I just want people to enjoy my writing, and have a good time reading it. I really wanted to stress the importance of enjoying family as an adult. During my years in college I outgrew family trips, and did not realize how important they were, until I was lucky to re-experience it in Vacation To Graceland. Friends and youth comes and go, but family is the staple the will always be there.   

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

I really do not think there are any challenges in my writing. I made it an easy read, and I explain exactly what I am thinking the entire novel. Now what might be challenging, is figuring out how we survived the trip after all the random events that happened.

How many books have you written, and which is your favorite?

I write continuously, but I have 2 novels published on Kindle, Nook, and Ibooks. The first being Vacation To Graceland, and the latest being The Compulsive Move. I really do not have a favorite. I embodied a different vibe during each writing, and both of them are representative my writing style and talent. If I had to choose, I would pick both of them!

If you had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

This is a very challenging question. I think I would pick Pooch Hall. I see Pooch play in Ray Donovan, and he is seasoned perfectly to play the main character. I can see it all the way. He can be serious or comedic, and slide between both worlds seamlessly.

When did you begin writing?

I began writing novels in 2012. I have a college degree, so I already had acquired the skill to write through years of deadlines for papers and lab write ups. I just carried that skill and applied it to writing novels. Actually the first novel I wrote, I did not publish, but it definitely started something I knew I wanted to pursue for years to come.

How long did it take to complete you first book?

I really do not know. If I had to make an educated guess, I would say about 4 months. I have a full time job, so I just wrote when I had free time. It was not much time, but I got it done.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

No……I wrote because I felt it was something I needed to do.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

I would say it is a cross between, the completion of the writing and the brainstorming segment. I say the brainstorming segment, because sometimes I lay down paragraphs, and amaze myself at how great my stories are. When I read back through them, I get a feel for the writing and it amazes me how well it comes together. The process overall is tedious, so once it is over that truly is a happy moment. That is why I say I also enjoy the completion.  

Describe your latest book in 4 words?

A Boy’s Resilient Struggle

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

My current project is coming very slow. I keep falling in and out of love with it. As far as I can tell you, it is about boy, who becomes a man, but succeeds at being a screw up through each stage of his life. Every time he should learn, he does not. I am struggling, because there is no formal outline to this writing. It is like a melting pot that will either be beautiful or horrible in the end. I do plan on finishing this writing, and moving on to the next. I try to write every day, so who knows what I will do next. 

Phillip Cornell is a college graduate. He gained his degree in Biological Sciences, and currently works at a local pharmacy.  He is the only son of Harron and Connie Cornell, and the youngest of 3 children. In 2006 his father passed away due to colon cancer, and his mom became an inspiration to him and his family in the way she supported everyone. He has a passion for all types of competitive activity, with sports being the favorite. Overall he lives for different experiences to stimulate the mind, and firmly believes that life is something that has to be lived, read about, and dissected. His biggest weakness is beautiful women, and the thought of being a failure. Firmly believing everyone deserves their moment no matter how long or short it is, Phillip listens to anyone who has something to say. The more he writes. The more he realizes what he creates, is something that needs to be shared with someone other than himself.
