Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

Don’t give up when bad stuff happens in your life.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Even though I received a bachelor’s degree in creative writing plus a minor in grammar, the English language is not always easy for me. I rely heavily on a professional editor.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

I have written two books in the Holoquest Fantasy Series, DiSemblance and Boston’s Quest. My favorite is the third book of the series, which I’m currently writing. I have really gotten to the place where I love each of my characters and I can’t wait to see how they handle the actual quest!

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

Jason Tanner:  I choose Shia LaBeouf, because he has an inner strength that lends well with being shy. Boston is fascinated with his innocence. He would make all of the hard choices Jason makes seem natural.

Boston Komen: I choose Emma Watson, because she has a seductive shyness about her. She is able to be mischievous and a rebel, without letting go of her vulnerability.

When did you begin writing?

I started writing seriously in college.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

Writing my first book took over 4 years because I was learning so much from the revision process.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?

No.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?

My favorite part is writing the rough draft. There is a saying, “No surprise for the author, no surprise for the reader.” I love being surprised when the story takes an unexpected turn.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Fact-paced, Surprising, Good, Suspenseful

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

DiSemblance is the first book in the Holoquest Fantasy Series. I am currently working on the third book in the series.

I am a professional writer with a bachelor's degree in creative writing and a minor in grammar. I have also attended several years of classes and workshops in screenplay writing at the Los Angeles Screenplay writer's Expo.

I love suspenseful, action-adventures and clean, young adult, romance stories. I was born and raised in a small town in Idaho. I am the second out of six children. When I was in my early 20's my mother was killed by a drunk driver. This one incident drastically changed my life. I have always had a passion for reading and writing fiction. Owing to a life long struggle with Dyslexia, early teachers discouraged me from pursuing a career in writing.

As I have spent over twenty-five years transforming my language disabilities into professional writing skills, God has honed my insatiable passion into an incredible vision.
