Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?

No matter what we’ve done in life, we all deserve love and deep down we’re all the same.

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
Oh wow. I find that each story presents its own challenge. Some things come easy, the beginning and the middle, maybe the ending is hard. Perhaps, getting the heroine and the hero to stop bickering and admit they like each other is a challenge in the next story. It’s a constantly rotating list of things that have me ready to pull my hair out, but I wouldn’t change a moment of it. It’s part of the adventure that is writing a character’s story.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?

To date, I’ve written about 57 books, and I could never choose a favorite. There a bit like children, you love each one for the unique thing they offer.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?

Oh….. Dixie would be Megan Good because I adore her, and she has the right sass level to play Dixie and to express all her highs and lows.
Echo would be  Jason Lewis, because I think he could really play the edgy biker with a broken heart.

When did you begin writing?

I’ve written for as long as I can remember, but it wasn’t until I was thirty that I became published, and my actual career began.

How long did it take to complete your first book?

It took me about a month and a half with edits.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
L.J. Smith, R.L. Stine as a pre-teen really gave me the writing bug.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Meeting the characters! Even though I’m the writer, when I begin the first draft, everything is “new” to me just as it will be for the readers.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.

Thrilling, Raw, Heartbreaking, Retribution

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

I have an upcoming series that will feature broken bad boys with hearts of gold. Once you crack through the rough, tattooed exterior and see them at their core, you won’t be able to stop falling in love with this group of tattoo shop owning brothers.

Interview

Is There a Message in Your Novel That You Want Readers to Grasp?
The one message I share in my work is, “You can overcome anything, and through it, at the end of it – you will become stronger, fiercer and fuller.”

Is there anything you find particularly challenging in your writing?
The fact that I like to create multiple characters in a piece of work -capturing their distinct voices is a challenge.

How many books have you written and which is your favorite?
I’ve written nine books and I love them all the same. Deviant Storm, Bandits, The Pack are my most favored of my books.

If You had the chance to cast your main character from Hollywood today, who would you pick and why?
Gosh, I really can’t say.

When did you begin writing?
I started when I was 14 years old.

How long did it take to complete your first book?
It took me just 120 days to finish it and about a year to edit it.

Did you have an author who inspired you to become a writer?
LA Banks.

What is your favorite part of the writing process?
The writing of the novel.

Describe your latest book in 4 words.
Turmoil, Passion, Love, Death

Can you share a little bit about your current work or what is in the future for your writing?

Deviant Storm is the 2nd book in a Triology based on a short story my husband wrote for an English class he hated. After stumbling upon the paper one day, I felt there was so much more to the story. He and I crafted the premise and I started writing, filling in, and creating. I was so afraid that he wouldn’t like what I’d done with the adventure, however, he enjoyed it so much his eyes watered up a little (don’t tell him I told you that).
Peter Saints, the main character, meets up with his nemesis, Gavin Steele who has hunted him from birth to steal his blood, which is the key to an unspeakable power. Through Gavin’s manipulation, murdering, and capture of Angel, the girl he loves, Peter refuses to accept defeat, and rises again to destroy Gavin once and for all.

Review

I love the authenticity this novel brought to the table. I liked that the author really set out questions and helped answer them with real life situations and real people. I found this novel really enlightening and found myself thinking hard about things I hadn't thought about before reading this.

With some great tips, examples, and superb writing. LeRon Barton really gives hope to those in the dating world looking for love.

LeRon Barton (1978 – ) was born in Kansas City, Mo. Encouraged by his Mother to write, he attended Paseo Academy Fine Arts High-school to hone his craft. Mentored by famed writer Stan Banks, Barton began to write and recite poetry in KC and contribute to an underground zine. Graduating from high-school in 1996, Barton would continue to write and commit petty crime until 1999, when he would attend college in San Diego, Ca, and return to KC the following year. In 2005 after being laid off from a telecom company, Barton returned to San Diego and began writing screen plays and volumes of poetry. In 2010, he created “Windowshopz.com,” a website that featured writing, music, fashion, travel, and movies. He would also start what would become, “Straight Dope.” After a turbulent 2012, Barton relocated to The Bay Area and started, “Mainline Publications,” an online publications firm that would release controversial works. The first project, “Straight Dope: A 360 degree look into American drug culture,” a book about how drugs are intertwined into American life, was released in February 2013. All We Really Need is Love, a collection of love stories was released in Nov 2015. I’m having the suckiest day ever. First, my father, aka Mr. Grumpy Pants, calls to say his nurse just walked out on him. Likely story. I rush home to pack only to walk in on my husband getting it on with his younger, skanky secretary. Unfortunately, my quick weekend trip home to fix Dad’s problems turns into a stay of a few weeks. Luckily, I’ve got Danny, the neighbor boy I had a crush on when I was a dorky, braces-wearing, nose-buried-in-a-book teenager, and a brand-spanking new blog to keep my mind off things. Before I know it, I’m writing product reviews of vibrators and getting questioned by a store rent-a-cop at the world’s worst date ever. All while trying to figure out how to take things with Danny to the next level. Not to complicate things or anything but my boss decides to give me an ultimatum – come back in four weeks or don’t come back at all. How in the world did my life get so complicated?

Excerpt

Danny clears his throat and turns to me. “I was going to ask you something about your blog.” I raise an eyebrow at him. “Why don’t you ever blog about me?”

I nearly choke on my wine. “Blog about you? The blogs are about my dates.”

“Babe, pay attention.” He grabs my chin. “What do you think we’re doing?”

My eyes nearly pop out of my head. “Being good friends?”

He shakes his head. “Um, no. I’m wooing you.”

“Wooing me?”

“Yeah, wooing.” He points between us. “Do you think I drink wine on my porch with just anyone?”

I’m confused. “You don’t like wine?”

He chuckles. “Look at me. I’m a single guy with a kid. Why would I have wine in the house?”

The dominoes begin to fall in place. “Oh.”

“Yeah, oh. Come over here.”

He takes my wine and places it on the ground next to his glass before firmly grabbing my head and planting his lips on mine. The kiss is soft, sweet, and everything that’s right in the world. And it’s not enough. I want, no need, more. I grab his neck and pull him closer. He growls and grabs my head to tilt it to his liking so he can deepen the kiss. I’m putty in his hands by the time he eases up and pulls back. What. Just. Happened?

About the Author

I grew up reading everything I could get my hands on from my mom’s Harlequin romances to Nancy Drew to Little Woman. When I wasn’t flipping pages in a library book, I was penning horrendous poems, writing songs no one should ever sing, or drafting stories which have thankfully been destroyed. College and a stint in the U.S. Army came along, robbing me of free time to write and read, although I did manage every once in a while to sneak a book into my rucksack between rolled up socks, MRIs, t-shirts, and cold weather gear. A few years into my legal career, I was exhausted, fed up, and just plain done. I quit my job and sat down to write a manuscript, which I promptly hid in the attic after returning to the law. Another job change, this time from lawyer to B&B owner and I was again fed up and ready to scream I quit, which is incredibly difficult when you own the business. Thus, I shut the B&B during the week and in the off-season and started writing. Several books later I find myself in Istanbul writing full-time.

Blog Tour: The Lightening Round by Bruce Stuart

Literary / Women's Fiction
Date Published: November 1, 2015

Did you ever wonder what it’s like to dare to fall in love with someone who literally isn’t on your level?

The Lightening Round is a fast-paced novel brimming with colorful characters, sinister plots of intrigue and revenge, and over-the-top antics.
Hannah More, a single mom with weight issues, assumes that her longtime boyfriend, Luke Havitt, is about to propose marriage to her. Instead, he proposes that in order for Hannah to take their relationship to the next level, that she needs to join a gym and to lose weight. Hannah soon finds herself entering the Ultimate Level, a highly controversial yet incredibly sought after San Francisco “fitness experience” known for not only having the latest in technology and fashion, but also segregating all of its members based solely on their weight and fitness levels.
This snappy novel ultimately questions whether true love can survive two individuals from different levels. Even if those levels are only found at a gym.
