Review: Wilde's Fire by Krystal Wade

There is no pain in this death, only peace, knowing I am going to die with the one I love the most." - Katriona Wilde. Katriona Wilde has never wondered what it would feel like to have everything she's ever known and loved ripped away, but she is about to find out. When she inadvertently leads her sister and best friend through a portal into a world she's dreamed of for six years, she finds herself faced with more than just the frightening creatures in front of her. Kate's forced to accept a new truth: her entire life has been a lie, and those closest to her have betrayed her. What's worse, she has no control over her new future, and it's full of magic and horrors from which nightmares are made. Will Kate discover and learn to control who she really is in time to save the ones she loves, or will all be lost?

My Review:

Well this story definitely drops you in a world you are in no way expecting. Kate and her sister are on a camping trip with her childhood friend Brad. Just as things between Brad and Kate seem to be escalating beyond the platonic, they are dropped into a world of darkness. While Kate is able to shelter her sister from harm she ends up not being able to send Brad back through the portal. Things get very bad from there and Brad ends up sacrificing himself to protect her. Thankfully, they are saved by a group of people, one of whom she has very strong recollection of as she has dreamed of him for quite a while.

Arland and Kates chemistry is undeniable. At times I wanted to smack her for feeling so dedicated to Brad when they technically never had anything more than friendship. The relationship Brad and Kate gives complicated a whole new meaning. While there is never a true Love Triangle, the twists in the romance and relationship aspect are definitely abundant.

A fast paced story in a world Krystal Wade vividly describes everything will keep you guessing and leave you wanting more. Be ready for a huge ending!
